Chocolate Bark

Chocolate Bark

Chocolate Bark is a super easy dessert to have on hand for just yourself or company. This recipe provides a list of ingredients, but honestly, the variations are endless so just go with what you like. Allergic to nuts, use dried fruit instead.

Ingredients

Quantities are provided, but just play with the amounts to your preference.

  • 1/2 cup roasted, rough chop nuts of choice
  • 8-12 oz of chocolate
  • 1 tsp vanilla powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp – 1 tsp chile or chili powder (not optional IMHO)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • coarse salt

Guidelines

Instead of Instructions (which implies you can mess up if they are not followed), here are your guidelines:

  1. Roast nuts in ~350 F oven for 5-10 minutes. Watch closely so you don’t burn them. Pull out when they smell amazing.
  2. Let nuts cool, then rough chop, or just leave as is.
  3. Melt chocolate in a double boiler (a bowl above a pot of simmering water).
  4. Take the bowl with chocolate off “double boiler”, add vanilla, chile powder and cinnamon.
  5. Mix with a spatula.
  6. Add nuts, mix until nuts are coated.
  7. Cover a baking tray with parchment paper.
  8. Pour chocolate mixture onto parchment and spread.
  9. Put the tray in the freezer for 5 minutes.
  10. Take the tray out and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  11. Put the tray back in the freezer until you are ready to eat, preferably with berries and whip cream.
  12. Break in chunks as big or small as you would like. Will melt in your mouth and in your hands!
